YC,
investors have had 8 years of their dream admin...and what has it got them? Total garbage. The last 8 years have been one of the worst investing cycles in history. Capital gains taxes are beside the point.

It's amazing to me that people can't look at simple, transparent facts: Clinton = + stock market; Bush = Bad stock market, and draw their own conclusions.

I'm investing in tech, clean energy tech, biotech (notice how I'm picking all the smart industries for a Dem) and should easily double my money in four years. I'll pay a high tax. I'd rather pay 30% on 100k than 15% on minus 20k.

I differ in the fact that the last 8 years has been bad.  It is only the last 9 months that have been bad for investors until it has become obvious that the banks and investment banks and Congress have been taking us for all we are worth.

About Clinton.  Was it really that good?  What about the tech bubble bust after his administration ended?

There is only one version of Christianity, Doc.  There may be many denominations because of their inability to agree on various doctrinal issues, but only one version of how to become a Christian.

Quote
John 14:5-7 (New International Version)

Jesus the Way to the Father

5Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?"

6Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7If you really knew me, you would know[a] my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him."

So, 'W', my question is this?  If Barack Obama is a Christian, then how can he be in direct defiance of God's Word as written in Jeremiah?

yellowcaked -  Sorry, I am not here to defend or argue Obama's version of Christianity versus your
version of Christianity.

yellowcaked - Okay, wrong choice of word on my part. What I meant was denomination.
As you said there are many denominations because of their inability to agree on various
doctrinal issues.  Judging by your earlier post,  your denomination obviously doesn't
agree with Obama's denomination on various doctrinal issues.

2000 and 2001 were pretty bad too. I'd say overall, it's been a bad 8 years.

And yeah, clinton's stewardship of the country was that good--compare it to bush.

Bush--crap market, two wars, our country is attacked, we are hated around the world. We even hate each other.

Doc, I'm glad to hear that we understand there is only one way to salvation through Jesus Christ and that it is not a doctrine of man but rather what he wrote in the scriptures.

You cannot blame our country being attacked on George Bush but rather probably on Clinton and the Democrats who raped the CIA and DOD on budgets.

And, it was Clinton who had Osama in his sights and did nothing about it for fear of political backlash.

This is what I actually wrote.

Now I am not sure if we agree or disagree.  I was doing my own interpretation of what you wrote.  My bad if it was bad.

I do know this, however, it is that there is only one way to God, and that is through Jesus Christ.

Cheers!

For what it is worth, Michael Savage has just endorsed John McCain over the Marxist Barack Obama...   Grin

yeah, 9-11 was clinton's fault. Republicans have to take responsibility for their mistakes. It's intellectually dishonest. Seriously yc, i like these discussions, but that's v weak. the sky is green, grass is blue, the earth is flat. you cannot alter history, you cannot explain away what is completely obvious. 9-11 happened on bush's watch--it's his fault.

If I buy a house, and ten months later, someone breaks in, am I going to blame the previous owners for not securing the locks? that would be pathetic.

Clinton had his chance and blew it out of political considerations.  How much more clear can it be that Clinton valued his international politics more than diong what was right?

Strange, isn't it??

There have been no more successful attacks on American soil, since 911.  Lots of liberal complaints about the Patriot Act, though.

I have never figured out all the hubub about the Patriot Act.  It does not affect my life one bit.  I have nothing to hide.  Open book.

Ladies and Gentleman,

Lets keep the politics to a minimum.  It is a known fact that it is the fastest way to ruin friendships (Forums).  Its nice to discuss, but lets not argue about it.  It can be discussed from day one (Mr. Cherry Tree Chopper to present) and no one will agree 100% that any of them did the right thing all the time. Every four years it boils down to one thing, who is the lesser of the two evils! Just vote Mickey Mouse. Grin

wow... a croaker sighting... been a while... Smiley

Actually I don't need to worry about voting for Mickey Mouse or the lesser evil or anyone else for that matter... since I live in California the election will be over long before my vote even gets counted.  Assuming it ever does get counted.  Heh.

Anyone in Florida want to trade their vote with me??  Grin

YC you keep referring to Obama as Marxist.  How would you describe this?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aD3xfT0c99g&feature=related

Fascist?

I have no problem with your political leanings just the style of your attacks on Senator Obama.  As an investor I study many things for my own benefit and understanding of how thing work.  One of my favorite subjects is economic theory which includes socialism, capitalism, the works of Smith, Veblen, Keynes, Mises, and of course to Marx.  If one can understand why some systems of social engineering work to the benefit or detriment of the people living under such systems, he may gain some ability to look forward as to the economic path that system will likely take.  Thus, my reason for study is to profit.

I don't think Marx was anything more than an economic theorist in the same vein as say Keynes, Burke or Adam Smith.  What has occurred is, people like Stalin and Lenin Perverted Marx's flawed economic theories for their own purposes of dictatorship and domination over their own people.  Socialist theory perverted into communism is and was doomed to fail.  However the huge social experiments take many years to play out. We have witnessed the changes in Russia and China towards a partial capitalist system but it has taken time … lots of it.

“Lenin is said to have declared that the best way to destroy the Capitalist system was to debauch the currency.  By a continuing process of inflation, governments can confiscate, secretly and unobserved, an important part of the wealth of their citizens.  By this method they not only confiscate, but they confiscate arbitrarily. The process engages all the hidden forces of economic law on the side of destruction and does it in a manner which not one man in a million is able to diagnose.”

Sound familiar?

How does the creature from Jekyll Island, the Federal Reserve look when you consider the above.  I could say they are nothing more than a bunch of Marxist.  This private “ownership” of our monetary system is but a step towards socialism.  The government interference into the markets is socialism what else can you call it?

This election in combination with the failed economic and international policies of the past eight years is resulting in a further division of the American People.  We are going to have either a black or a woman in the white house.  This has never occurred in this country’s history.  So, like it or not we are going to get change.   But labeling Obama a Marxist or Sara Palin a separatist serves no useful purpose other than to incite the uninformed and I suggest that for the most part those people don’t reside at this website.  We are traders, not nit wits.

Edited for some spelling.
