Just read new information on Northgate. Any opinions of whether this is good or bad news for NXG?

Any insight is appreciated.

I've been following Northgate for about 3 years. This was back when new management was turning a losing company into one that made a profit and improved mine operation and safety. Their story was beginning to look good. The main problem was the limited life of their current mine (only a few years left). If they didn't expand, that would be the end.

They worked pretty hard on North Kemess but the plan was to dump their discharge into a lake, thereby destroying the lake. This to me looked like a non-starter from an environmental point of view. Also, as a negative kicker, the lake is on territory claimed by the local first nations.

For me this type of double whammy negative was too much and it was a non-touchable for me (actually the lake business was already too negative for me). I have continued to watch this play out and I am not surprised by the negative results and obvious setbacks to date. It looks like they are expanding elsewhere to try and keep the company going. I don't see North Kemess being developed for at least 10 years.

At this point, I wouldn't touch it.

Thanks for your insights, Trucker.

Just to follow up with another question, do you or anyone else in this forum know if John Doody's following Northgate? I heard some speculation that he might be adding this stock to his list. Thanks.
