This director was appointed just before the major top in early 2007, and has been onboard since. Is he being let go just before the bottom? It would seem to me that a departure without advising a known destination constitutes a firing? Not sure...
Maybe Mr.Goldberg is cleaning up the company for the next upleg. If a "new" director is to be appointed, it would be a good time to offer him/her stock at these rock bottom prices, with options, too. Thoughts team? thanks...D

January 17, 2007 - Pinetree Capital Ltd. (TSX: PNP) announced today that it has appointed Donato Sferra, CFA, CA, as Vice President, Investments, a newly created position. Sferra , an integral member of the Pinetree executive management team, will be responsible in the evaluation and management of Pinetree's investment portfolio.
For the past five years, Sferra was an analyst with TD Securities Inc. and previously had practiced as a Chartered Accountant for one of the top accounting firms.
